It's been a long time coming, but I've finally managed to bring the site up to a relevant standard. I'm transitioning a lot of the site across to meet the specs, which is a time consuming task, as I've got to go through and make sure all my xml is now in the right format (For example, my photos page does not validate).
In addition, I've changed the default format in which these pages are served up - no longer will you be able to access the pages in their glorious xml-only format, as they are all translated via the xslt on the server-side (even though Safari now supports XSLT). The reason for doing this is because the search bots are having a hard time at indexing my site, often only just going to the index page. I'm hoping this will encourage those curious spidery little bots to venture further into my site to index.
A mild obsession I've been harbouring since high-school is pen-twirling. No matter how hard I tried to figure out how to twirl pens, I just could not get them twirling around. I end up just "walking" the pen up and down my fingers quite slowly. Finally my salvation arrived via Pentrix, a site which has detailed instructions on how to twirl pens. Once I get some free time, I'll get those damned pens twirling like LOLercopters.
I can't believe I made up an entire blog post just to post this one link to Pentrix. Sometimes, I feel I should just bite the bullet and sign up with Delicious bookmarks (Edit - Behold the power of a kick up the arse: My delicious account).
Today has been one of those really strange days, where everyone seemed very manic, and I somehow managed to remain, in a fit of diametric opposition, gainfully calm. Between trying out the latest social networking fad on the block, finding new and inventive uses for underpants, and being part of some truly bizarre conversations over numerous lunch and coffee breaks, I managed to find the time (or rather I made the time) to try out my latest and greatest toys - a new pair of headphones. I listen to a fair bit of music, and since I was having a pretty average week last week (evidenced by the amount of soothing Jack Johnson I listened to), I decided to flex my purchasing muscles as a symbolic middle finger to the world - everything might be going to shit, but I'll be damned if I'm going to go down without a good soundtrack. Being initially thwarted in my plan to get a new CD (Thanks to the poor selection available at HMV Macquarie), I ended up buying a set of good headphones that I've had my eyes on for a while. The Alessandro MS-1 headphones are quite a step up from the headphones that came bundled with my previous mp3 player. I'm no audiophile, so I can't exactly deliver an in-depth review of the headphones, but I can say that they sound pretty good. Coupled with that, I've been listening to a few new albums from the Another Late Night, full of very groovy tunes. Less than a month to go before some new (re-released) Mr Scruff :)
Edit: Here's a link to some Underpants
Di is a bit of a closet nerd - an IRC user from way back. One afternoon at work we were reading bash.org, which is a collection of choice quotes from IRC sessions. Bash has an ability to suck up hours of your time without you even knowing they're gone. Sites like Bash.org seem to sum up the entire internet experience quite succinctly, and are often pretty silly. There's an Australian-centric quotes page at UGBox, which seems associated with the ever-popular OCAU. It's from UGBox that we found the quote using roflburgers. For some reason we just started using it all over the place, embedding it into official business documents and quietly chuckling away, and it's now part of our vernacular. Thankfully, I don't think that we're quite as bad as the residents of LOLcity.
